To celebrate and honor their service to our country, veterans can ride free on DART buses starting June 18, 2018 with photo identification showing veteran status.
DART has new fareboxes installed on 30 of its buses to test before fareboxes are installed fleetwide in fall 2018. This will cause some changes for riders, should they board a bus with a new farebox on it.
A new pilot project aims to make it easier for refugees and immigrants to learn to ride DART. The project, which includes new signage and how-to-ride guides in multiple languages, is the result of nine months of work by participants in the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute’s Community Leadership Program.
DART is replacing the fareboxes on all of its buses in August with fareboxes that will work better with new technologies. Before this happens, DART will install 30 of the new fareboxes in buses for testing and is looking for approximately 100 riders to help test new bus passes.
As of Sunday, July 1, 2018, current DART bus information will no longer be available in the RideTime app. Riders will want to download the MyDART app for the new Next DART Bus feature and additional trip planning tools.
