Provide input on changes to DART’s services in Urbandale

As part of its Transit Optimization Study (TOS) DART is collecting feedback on changes it is proposing to make to service so that it runs in a way that better fits the needs of our riders and member communities. Of the changes proposed in the TOS, DART is looking at moving forward with changes that would update service in Urbandale.

Transit Optimization Study

About the study

DART is conducting a Transit Optimization Study (TOS) to plan for the future of providing transportation in the region and explore new technologies and transportation trends. The purpose of this study is to see what types of service will best serve specific needs in the region. This may result in changes in bus service or a blend of bus routes and other mobility options, such as bike-share, scooter-share or partnerships with private transportation companies, like Uber, Lyft and taxis.

Next service change: Sunday, Nov. 15

DART will make changes to its service, including map changes for Local Route 17 and schedule changes for Local Route 4 and Express Route 98 effective Sunday, Nov. 15.

Provide feedback on possible new facility

DART is looking into possibly buying the land located near 2501 Maury Street to build a new operations and maintenance facility on the site. The new facility would occupy land where an old school building and community center, and greenhouses owned by the City of Des Moines currently stand. DART and its design team are working on the early design phases of the project. We invite area residents to share their thoughts on the project by attending one of two open houses at the site, or by completing our survey
