Art shelters- Drake University

The Drake neighborhood is a centrally located, historic area of Des Moines, and is the home and namesake of Drake University, founded in 1881. The diverse and vibrant corridor to the south and east of campus is known as Dogtown, an area enjoying increasingly multimodal future, with access to public transportation at the heart of this iconic neighborhood’s sense of self. The character of Dogtown’s built environment, as well as the sense of community and school spirit were key sources of inspiration for artists Mollie Wallace and Dana Harrison, who were selected by a jury of community and neighborhood stakeholders in partnership with Liz Lidgett Gallery + Design.
