Residents trying to reach the only overnight cooling shelter in Polk County can ride there for free on DART buses.

An overnight cooling shelter has been established at Zion Lutheran Church at 4300 Beaver Avenue in Des Moines. The shelter will be open overnight from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. on both Monday and Tuesday nights. Doors are locked at 10 p.m. each night.
