Coffee drinkers and transit riders alike have a new destination in downtown Des Moines – the Java Joes CoffeeHouse at DART Central Station.
Java Joes at DART Central Station, 620 Cherry Street, Suite 100, Des Moines, features a menu of coffees, beverages, pastries, sandwiches and soups and will be open Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
DART will formally welcome Java Joes to DART Central Station on Friday, November 8, with an open house at the new location. The public is invited to stop by from 7 to 9 a.m. and enjoy free Java Joes coffee and cinnamon rolls, while supplies last.
The original location remains in operation at 214 4th Street, Des Moines. It was founded in 1992 and purchased in 2007 by Amy and Tim Brehm. Des Moines’ original micro coffee roaster, Java Joes has become a popular hangout for locals, musicians, performers and even national politicians.
DART Central Station opened in November 2012 as the primary transfer location of Greater Des Moines’ transit system. The station features indoor waiting areas, covered boarding platforms, secure indoor bicycle storage, a docking station for the B-cycle bike-sharing program, on-site security, and more.
