Independent task force makes unanimous recommendation on more representative DART governance

An independent task force has unanimously recommended a new and more representative governance structure for the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART), and the DART Commission is expected to vote on the recommendation June 6.

27 new buses enhance DART's fleet

The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) recently upgraded 25 percent of its fleet with 27 new buses. The new buses have replaced older buses in DART’s fleet, some of which were up to 15-years-old.

Nearly 5,000 meals raised on Fares for Food Day

More than $3,800 was raised as part of Fares for Food Day – good for 4,950 meals to be served this giving season. The money collected on DART buses Thursday, December 11, is being donated to the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) Food Pantry Network, the largest food pantry network in Iowa with sites in Ankeny, Des Moines, Johnston, Urbandale and West Des Moines. Clients receive a four-day supply of food (12 meals) every month, meaning the DART donation will provide more than 400 people with food for one month.

DART to launch new Flex Route 74 – NW Urbandale

DART is excited to launch the new Flex Route 74 – NW Urbandale, which will operate between Valley West Mall, Mercer/Marsh and the business parks in northwest Urbandale starting Monday, Aug. 18, 2014.
