DART will offer free rides on Local, Express, On Demand and On Call services all day on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023.
Many riders who rely on DART services for everyday essentials also rely on us to vote on Election Days. To help ensure all Polk County residents can make their voices heard, regular bus service will be provided at no cost on Election Day and Paratransit trips to and from polling locations.
Effective Wednesday, November 1, DART Paratransit's Bus Plus program is now offering a new Premium Service Zone, which extends the Bus Plus coverage area to include the full boundaries of each of DART's member communities. The Premium Service Zone trips are non-Medicaid only and cost a premium fare of $30 per trip. The Base Service Zone will remain as-is, at a cost of $3.50 per trip. Additionally, approved Bus Plus riders now have free access to ride on DART’s Fixed Route services.
Many DART riders ask for shelters and benches at bus stops. Based on this feedback, DART is working to add shelters and benches at its busiest bus stops.
Shelters Update
Over five years, DART has added 25 new shelters at bus stops. There are now 53 shelters with plans to add more than 20 shelters in the next two years.
