Survey and public meetings being held for Flex Route 73 Planning Study

Posted on September, 10 2013

The public is invited to a series of three public meetings being held Tuesday and Thursday, Sept. 24 and 26, to advise DART staff on a planning study for Flex Route 73, which serves Urbandale and Windsor Heights.

The planning study is being conducted by the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) to identify possible changes to the route to improve its performance.  A flex route operates along a fixed route with established stops and a set schedule, but it has extra time built into the schedule so the bus can flex off route between stops.

Feedback from the public meetings will help inform staff recommendations for improving the route, which could include changes such as route alignment, schedule, connections and marketing efforts.

The meetings will be held in an open house format:

Tuesday, Sept. 24
4:30 – 6 p.m.
Merle Hay Mall, Mall Tower Meeting Room (second floor)
3850 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines

Thursday, Sept. 26
Noon – 1:30 p.m.
DART Central Station, Multimodal Room
620 Cherry Street, Des Moines

6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
Gloria Dei Lutheran Church
8301 Aurora Avenue, Urbandale

If you are unable to attend one of the meetings and would like to provide input, please call 515-283-8100, email dart@ridedart.com, or mail to Attn: Gunnar Olson, DART Central Station, 620 Cherry St., Des Moines, IA 50309.

Free language, visual, hearing services are available at meetings upon request. Transportation services are also available. For requests, please call DART at 515-283-8100 with as much advanced notice as possible.
