A new pilot project aims to make it easier for refugees and immigrants to learn to ride DART. The project, which includes new signage and how-to-ride guides in multiple languages, is the result of nine months of work by participants in the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute’s Community Leadership Program.

DART is replacing the fareboxes on all of its buses in August with fareboxes that will work better with new technologies. Before this happens, DART will install 30 of the new fareboxes in buses for testing and is looking for approximately 100 riders to help test new bus passes.

As of Sunday, July 1, 2018, current DART bus information will no longer be available in the RideTime app. Riders will want to download the MyDART app for the new Next DART Bus feature and additional trip planning tools.

DART is collecting public feedback as it plans for its August 2018 service change, which will include the addition of a new crosstown route in north Des Moines, changes to Local Route 10 and updates to schedules and frequencies for many of DART's Local Routes.

A new MyDART Trip Planner and Next DART Bus feature is now live on ridedart.com and in the MyDART app. The new tools have improved search functionality and more options for getting real-time arrival of buses.

DART was notified in January 2018 that it was the recipient of a grant through the Iowa Clean Air Attainment Program that will be used to create a new crosstown route that travels east and west on Euclid/Douglas between Merle Hay Mall and E 42nd Street. As DART works on planning this route, we want to hear from our riders about how they might use this service.

DART is currently evaluating service on Local Routes 1, 4 and 10 to see if they need to be changed to better serve our riders. Because of this, DART is currently collecting surveys from our riders to decide if changes are necessary.

Beginning on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, DART will provide two daily bus trips twice a week on Tuesday and Thursdays between the Deer Ridge Apartment Complex on SW 63rd St and Creston Avenue in Des Moines to the Walmart in Windsor Heights.
